Sitting down to pen down these words, I am overwhelmed with gratitude as I reflect on my life and all that has brought me to where I am today. I’m writing to you, my younger self, as attestation to the challenging yet beautiful growth you are about to endure in the years leading you to where I am today. I can't help but feel a combination of nostalgia and wisdom. You are on the verge of a rollercoaster ride through the peaks and valleys of life. I want to tell you a few things, not to change the way your life must turn out, but to give you insight and direction that might help make the ride a bit smoother.
First and foremost, you are doing okay, you haven’t achieved all that you had dreamed of but you are only a step closer. But you must embrace uncertainty I know you have a plan and hate being out of control, but trust me, some of the most beautiful occasions will be taking place in the least expected and unplanned moments. Do not fear change; but learn to go with it as if your life depended on it. Life has a funny way of unfolding right in front of your eyes, and those surprises often build your character up. Be kinder to yourself, you’ve done nothing but your best, you do not have to be so hard on yourself you’re only a work in progress. And celebrate your victories, no matter how big or small, and always be accept your shortcomings with grace.
You see all the mistakes you make, they're not the end of the world. Matter of fact, they're the actual foundation of wisdom. You will stumble and fall, and that's fine. The only thing to do is to rise stronger with a spirit of resilience. Each mistake is a learning curve, and all the lessons learnt will shape the person you are to become. Relationships will come and go. Some will have to be a lesson some a blessing, they’ll leave a mark, others won't. They’ll play a significant role in your growth. You'll learn the value of healthy connections and understand that it's okay to let go of toxic ones. The heartbreaks and joys will shape your understanding of love, friendship, and empathy. Appreciate those who stay, but don't hold onto those who are clearly not serving your purpose and choose a different path. Never underestimate the power of weight genuine people hold in your life, invest time in building meaningful connections, but in doing so not forgetting the significance of a relationship with yourself, learn to enjoy your own company, it's a lifelong companionship, you have to be okay with being left out, not invited sometimes, not always knowing the inside jokes made jokes made in your absence and just being okay with saying “no” from time to time. People have walked all over you because you simply just can’t say no, stand your ground, once you learn to do so, there’s no going back and you’ll never find yourself in situations you don’t want to be in, aren’t comfortable in and can’t handle. It’ll help you stay true to your values.
Your dreams have always been valid and forever will be. Chase them with passion and tenacity. There will be challenges and haters along the way but don't let that dim your sparkle. Your journey is different to others do not compare and your dreams are worth every speck of effort. You'll face hurdles and have to make choices that will shape your professional path don't be afraid to take the risk and follow your passions. Your dedication and hard work will open doors you never thought possible. As you manoeuvre through life, you'll adjust more to the world. One of the most significant aspects of growth will be in your mindset. You'll learn to approach challenges with solution-oriented viewpoint. Rejection is normal, no matter the scenario it’s no use dwelling on something that has hurt you, especially having to deal with being an outcast. Take on more challenges, whether you’re scared or not, you can overcome so many obstacles that have shaped me helping discover that I am stronger than I had ever anticipated. Most importantly DO NOT STOP PRAYING, experiencing God is the best feeling on earth and just being able to converse with Him. Thank God for all He has done for you and all He is do for you. Pray for all the thing you want out of your life and praise Him ALWAYS. Choosing faith was the best decision I ever made for myself. Always remember that you are enough. You are capable of more than you can imagine, and the world has so much to offer you. Enjoy the ride, learn from every twist and turn, and never forget to embrace the beauty of life.
With love and hindsight,
Your Future Self
